  • FEATURED ARTIST: Sara Lanzillotta - Viva la Frida

"Viva la Frida"- a collection of dolls inspired by Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo has been an ever present inspiration in my life and continues to be a subject I frequently return to. Her artwork, her passion, her life, and her fashion has played an integral role in my own art journey. Growing up in LA, I felt her image followed me everywhere. She continues to be a presence as I move on through life, now in my longtime home of Seattle. She feels like my personal Saint, giving guidance, with a wink, when I'm looking for creative help.  A symbol of creative freedom, making her mark in a man's world, and pursuing her passion no matter what difficulties life threw at her.

artist bio: Sara Lanzillotta has been making dolls and other oddly shaped soft sculptures since 1997. Her fabric oddities and dolls have been sold under her business, Devout, and have shown all across the country and worldwide in stores, galleries, bathrooms in galleries and at the Seattle Art Museum. She's currently the bossiest manager at a historical costume company, Period Corsets, with doll making as her passion on the side.
