IN PERSON CLASS: Embroidered Earrings

Please note: We require proof of vaccination to attend class in person. Additionally, we require masks to be worn during the class. If you purchase a ticket and cannot adhere to either of these rules or cannot attend class for any reason, we will offer an exchange to another class on our schedule up to 48 hours before the class. After that time, no refunds or exchanges are issued out of respect for our teachers who purchase and prepare supplies based on the number of attendees.

Bangles, dangles, studs? Let’s add to that earring collection. Create your own hand stitched pair of earrings in a hands on workshop! Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a two-hour class. You can choose from prickly pear cactus, mushroom, or flower designs, or create your own! In this workshop, you’ll learn how to transfer a design, create the radial satin stitch, seed stitch, and running stitch, as well as finish your embroidery in the earring setting. Each participant will receive a full kit that includes peach cotton fabric, a beechwood embroidery hoop, an embroidery needle, full skeins of DMC thread, a transfer pen, a pair of earring settings, and printed instructions.

This in-person class will take place at Monster, 1716 NW Market St., on January 25th starting at 6:30 PM.

Class attendees receive a 20% discount on any same-day purchases at Monster (excluding original art, gift cards and class tickets).

About the Instructor

Melissa Galbraith is the fiber artist behind MCreativeJ. She was born and raised in the desert of Washington state, where her mother instilled a love of making things by hand at an early age. Drawing on her love of nature, Melissa creates whimsical and modern embroidery patterns and kits. She loves sharing how anyone can embroider with her embroidery kits, patterns, and virtual workshops.

Melissa was reintroduced to hand embroidery after finding her desk job monotonous and needing a creative outlet. She loves that embroidery allows her to play with texture and color and is also a portable craft. Along the way, many crafty minded makers also wanted to learn how to embroider too but were daunted by where to start. So Melissa began to share her embroidery knowledge.

Melissa's embroidery kits and patterns make it easy to learn a new craft for makers of all skill levels. She loves seeing makers fall in love with the needle arts and seeing that magical ah-ha moment of learning something new.
