About the Instructor
Rosalie Gale is most well known for co-inventing Shower Art: waterproof art to hang in your shower. She and her husband, Doug, own Ugly Baby & Monster and have been making a living creating really dumb art pieces for longer than anyone really expected.
Would’ve been better if they walk you through the whole process instead of cutting it short at the end. Not only were instructions unclear to finish, but they didn’t provide any carpet adhesive to finish the rug and weren’t very good at teaching how to shave the rug. The class is cool to get an idea of what tufting is but I definitely recommend looking into other options that pay closer attention to the small details.
The class was really great and I learned a lot! It was great for beginners. I only wish that glue would have been included since there was not enough time to completely finish the projects
TUFTING CLASS: Beginner Tufting
I love that Monster had all of the equipment needed to get a new wave of potential tufters started. I especially love that I get to spend a little time learning the craft in their space, under their expertise instead of stubbornly diving into it on my own for what would probably have been the latest in a line of expensive art styles I go headfirst into. And I love that they offer open studio too- so you can continue to test your skill without having to have your own fully stocked studio.
I had a wonderful time learning to tuft at Monster. Atmosphere was laid back and fun but I learned all the information needed to make a tufted rug. I would highly recommend taking this class at Monster if you need some creative time in your life!
