  • TUFTING CLASS: Beginner Tufting - Cover a Stool

We know! Our tufting classes are selling out quickly. If you are available during weekday afternoons, you can book a one-on-one or small group private tufting class for the same price.

What Seattle apartment doesn't have a smattering of boring stools lined up in front of your kitchen counter? Let's see if we can't liven them up a bit, shall we?

It's time to learn to tuft! We'll spend the afternoon shooting yarn out of a gun into fabric to create some amazing tufted covers to customize your previously boring stools.

We provide frames, fabric, yarn and tufting guns for you – all you need to provide is your design idea. This class is B.Y.O.S. - Bring Your Own Stool since we assume you've got one or two kicking around the house. This will work best on a flat, round, wooden stool.

    • You will be using a frame that has approximately 26 x 26 inches of workable area. It's big & you might be able to create more than one cover - depending on the size of your stool.

    • Since this is a beginner class, we will focus on getting comfortable using the tufting gun.

    • We will use wool yarn and the loop pile setting so the piece you make will stand the test of time. We will have yarn available for you - but if you would like to use something specific, you are welcome to bring size 4 worsted weight yarn.

    • We will be glueing and finishing our pieces in class. You may need to return to staple the covering onto your stool once the glue dries or complete that part at home.

    • You will receive an email before class asking about your design and yarn preferences. Please check you spam if you don't receive it at least 7 days before class begins. You can add our email address - info@monstermonster.shop - to your safe list if you want to ensure delivery.

    • Depending on the size of the piece you create, you may or may not complete your rug during this class. All class attendees also receive a coupon for 100% off a ticket to our monthly open tufting studio session. That's three additional hours of tufting that you can use to either finish your project from class - or start something new. We're concerned about your little hands and how they'll react to you gripping a power tool for multiple hours in a row. It's best to split up large projects to prevent injuries.

This class will take place at Monster. Our address is 1716 NW Market Street, Seattle, WA 98107. It's at the intersection of 17th and NW Market Street - kitty corner from Mighty-O Donuts.

If you cannot attend class for any reason, we will offer an exchange to another class currently on our schedule up to 48 hours before the class. After that time, no refunds or exchanges are issued out of respect for our teachers who purchase and prepare supplies based on the number of attendees.

Our current Covid protocol is that anyone attending an event can email us at Info@monstermonster.shop to let us know they prefer that people wear masks up to 72 hours before the event begins. Your request is anonymous to all the other participants.

Attendees will receive an email before the class to let them know If we will be requiring masks be worn.
